I’m looking for some wheel nuts for a set of wheels I have.
The nuts need to be similar to the jellybean type ones however the diameter of the shank is 15-16mm diameter rather than the 17mm for the jellybeans.

Does anyone have any idea on what I can use? I notice the Revolution/Mamba type are similar design but look a little narrow, does anyone have one of those they could measure?

Cheers

No, I have a set of Contessas as well but the nuts are tapered at the end to locate the wheel, these use a washer.

Thanks, may end up easier just to order the ones from Minisport UK.

Contestas use a separate steel washer as well; tapered on one side, flat on the other....

Cheers, Ian

...and this washer is inset flush in the wheel centre. I have seen people here add more washers outside them, but this is wrong.. and the wheel is then not centred properly.
Part of the problem is, when you buy new Contessa nuts they usually come with chrome washers... so people think they have to fit them.

you might be best off getting the larger jellybean style nuts and getting someone to machine them down.

If ordering from UK you might just end up with something else that doesn't fit.

Any wheel place can get you a set of nuts, just need to suit a 3/8 UNF thread.

I think the diameter of the Contessa shank is too small anyway. I have a set of them so better to keep with the wheels anyway.

The ones from the UK I'm pretty sure have the correct size, and typically are cheaper than buying locally even when express posted but I'll see what I can find here.

Cheers

Just measured my Mamba wheel nuts. They have a shank diam. of 14mm and a shank length of 28.5mm (measured from the washer face to the end)

Garrethj, it is usually more helpful if you put your location in mate, you could have somebody close by that could help you out.
As for Mamba nuts i can measure the shank for you, i have some new spares that i bought a while back, i could possibly even send one of the old ones to you to try . I'll check tomorrow.
Colin.

Thanks for that guys. Sorry, I'm in Sydney.

Looks like Mambas are out, too narrow and long.

I have a set of the correct nuts to suit these wheels (for the set of wheels I have). They have a bigger diameter but shorter shank than Mamba and those in the MiniSpares link you posted. The MiniSpares' ones will not fit.

Mine are in the shed and I won't get a chance to search till the weekend. Can you wait till then?
