Post subject: | Cooper S Wheel Arch Flares |
Hi All, My friend is looking at replacing his two front Cooper S flares as the ones on there are looking pretty bad after being on the car for nearly 40 years. Does anyone stock these? I have tried my local guy here in Perth and Minis Plus, though it seems everyone is out of stock and what i can gather there is only one supplier for these flares. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Roc |

John Smidt at mini king in narellan has the original moulds of these and remanufactures them. He would be the one to try because as i am aware he sells them to everyone else. Brenton |

WINABBEY Glad I spotted this item. Are these flares the right ones for the early 997 Coopers too? or just the later Mk2 S ? Cheers Alex. |

They were fitted as standard to the MK II S and Mini K and other 1969 onwards round noses. Since the body shape is the same they will fit any round nose, such as the 997 Cooper. Of course you need the flat steel backing pieces. There is a different front flair for the Clubman due to the slightly different shape of the guard. |

No, the 997's had no flairs, but they did have a 3 piece set of stainless steel trims which replaced the standard plastic chrome strip. I have flairs on my 997 which will be returned to 3 piece stainless in the fullness of time. I have the stainless trims here already. I used a set of John's replacement flares. The fit was fine (although needing a lot of trimming for fit prior to getting them painted) and they're not brittle like the original sets. I still have a set of NOS flares here I am pretty sure. I won't touch them while new ones are still available. |
