Post subject:  Spacer between the Column Mounting Bracket and the lower das
For my Clubman, which way up and which way about does this spacer bracker go?

One side is long and curves away from the other shorter side.

Longer side on the bottom: bracket sort of hangs or droops over the mounting bracket.

Shorter side on the bottom (bracket looks like it is smiling): bracket longer ends sit on body!

Any ideas? :shock:

In case nobody told you, loosen the u-bolts connecting holding the steering rack in when re-fitting your steering column (and don't forget to re-tighten them).

Yep bolt what You have to the bottom of the bash as you have it
make sure the U nuts are loose on the floor for the rack and fit the steering shaft to th spine of the rack. Fit the column to the Spline and tighten. Adjust the wheel/column to the height you want and tighten the bolt/nut to the height bracket & then tighen the U bolts on the floor to the U Bolts

Ok - so assuming "it only goes one way" (looks like it is the opposite of smiling (unhappy) with the ends dropping down) - it can actually go two ways.

One side has an open slot and the other a closed slot. i.e. you can turn it round on the horizontal plane by 180 degrees.

Does it matter?

I'm not 100% sure why it was designed this way - usually I can work out the enineering reason but this one has got me stumped!
