Ok, everything in the car now works ![]() Only issue now is... when i turn on the headlights the temp gauge maxes out, tacho dies and the interior indicator lights go on ![]() Headlights look great and are definately brighter but id like to sort this!! Drove it the whole way to Wakefield like this haha Thoughts?? Sounds like a bad earth or something similar |

hahaha!! I think this is a "go trace all the wires and see what you've done wrong" sort of a problem. I'd suggest you've connected the 12v from the switch to the earth for the dash, but it could be anything ![]() |

Are you sure wires somewhere in the harness have not overheated and melted together. I had problems with my car that didn't appear until I started fiddling about and disturbed wires that had overheated years ago so they started shorting. When I unwrapped the harness it was a mess. |

Maybe have a closer look at the Earth Connection under the bonnet, near the fuses. You should use a Star Washer here to ensure a good connection through the paint. The other one to look at is on the back of the Speedo. |

If the instrument voltage regulator (back of speedo) turns out to be stuffed get a electronic replacement from Wombat on this forum. Much more realiable and accurate. |

I guess what you're saying is that it could be absolutely anything, and no amount of guesswork on here is going to figure it out? if so, then 'nuff said |

Ok I have checked everything and replaced the voltage regulator and its still happening.. So when the headlights are switched on the tacho dies.. Once you start to move the temp gauge shoots to max and the dash lights flash and fade AND the two indicator lights illuminate.. HELP!! |

honestly, you're not going to get any useful help from here - there are just too many things that could be wrong, anyone would just be guessing. Unplug everything, just start with the basics and make each thing work, one thing at a time. If you can't work it out, then you'll just need to take it to an auto-elec or get someone to come and help you |
