hi everyone,

just wandering what the experts thought, anyway the temp, spedo and fuel guages dont work in my car, i understand it could be a list of things but there is a wiring issue with the car, so any ideas?

temperature and fuel guages are electric- so the wiring could be the cause

the speedo runs by cable... do you mean the lights in it dont work?

Is this a cluby or roundy?

I would check the voltage regulator thing in the back (rectangular grey box with a number of plugs prodruing from it that clips into the back of the speedo cluster.

Hi sam,

You can test the temp and fuel needles themselves by grounding the wire before the sensor. For the temp sensor, for example, pull it the wire from the sensor (it's just above the alternator in my mini), and push it against something that's grounded (like the engine - provided you can get a clean connection). The temp gauge should shoot straight up to hot. If it doesn't, there's something wrong with the wiring or the gauge itself.

Since it's a few things, and a mix of mechanical (the speedo) and electrical, I'd say you instrument cluster has been disturbed - some of the plugs may have come out. I have a clubby with a different cluster to yours, so hopefully someone else can explain how to check a mini k cluster for you.

Cheers.

has it suddenly jjust stopped working or hasnt worked since you go it?

I too own clubbies........

As irish Yobbo said grab your fuel sender wires and eath them out, it should move the guage. If it does you will know your sender unit in your tank has kicked it in. If it doesnt move.. I dont know.....

Have you checked your speedo cable isnt broken?

Good luck

Hi Sam,

I also have a 1969 Mini K.

The temp and fuel gauge run off the voltage stabilizer which is located at the back of the speedo.
Check to be sure it is wired correctly.
