 Post subject: altenator options?

its apparent that i need a new altenator. what s the best thing for me to do. buy another one, secondhand / new get it reco'd etc ... what are my options price and quality wise. and what have you guys done in the past. i 'm very open to suggestions.
ignition / charge light is always on. changed batteries, checked connections etc.

its missing under load ever since the light has come on... i'm a guessing thats my electric fuel pump and spark distribution struggling.... hopefully

I have a later model holden barina alternator which only requires a few changes to the support bracket and different v belt (you also need to get the original round plug that goes into the alternator). These are half the size of original alts and put out around 70 amps. Mine has been running for around two years now without a problem. You can try and get the alternator from a wreckers, i will have a closer look when i get the chance and tell you the model no.
