I picked this up at Oberon swap a couple of weeks ago.

Whats the go with the canvas roof? Where they factory options or aftermarket? What sort of bracing was involved?

And an article testing a Weber upgrade.

Why don't you see many downdraught Webers? Looks like clearance is not an issue as it is with sidedraught?

The roof looks like a webasto. They are still available, albeit a bit more modern.

the magazine is from September 1962, so any mini on the road is no more than 3 years old at the time, and they have an article about overhauling the gearbox!

I cant believe the improvement the webber, along with the extractors had on performance, knocking 9 seconds off the 0-60mph.

Look what happened to the m.p.g. though

With the downdraft webbers, i heard something aboutt hey flood the motor when stopped?

Thanks for that Timbo.

If I found an original webasto like this I'd be very tempted to cut a hole in my Cooper S's lid.

I have one in one of my current GT's. If you saw it you'd change your mind pretty quick! I'll be getting rid of it ASAP, which will most likely entail a new roof skin........I had on in a another GT years ago. I think I opened it once (and remember I am a Moke man too....)

The South African mini Vanden Plas I used to own had a webasto style sunroof (can't remember the make but was original in SA , looked almost exactly the same as a webasto but a different make) and it was brilliant , I'm sure there are still photo's around of me driving it on a school oval on a mini run sitting on the back of the front seat with my head and shoulders out the sunroof ....

I know the owner of the blue car pictured above and I'm pretty sure he is happy with it.

What problems have you had?
