Firstly check that the choke isn`t stuck on then tell us how it runs after that edit--> the cjoke operates the little jet under the carby,,, it pulls that jet down which in turn, richens the mixture & altho your choke "Cable" may """SEEM""" like it`s all the way home,,, well that littlle black plastic jet on the bottom of the carby may not be all the way home |

Which screw did you adjust? As it sounds like you have decreased your idle which has nothing to do with your mixture... The NUT that you need to adjust to alter the mixture (to a point - it's really the needle in the carby that is controlling the mixture) is under the dashpot between the carb body and the jet. |

Reach under the carb and push upwards on the jet. They can sometimes stick open as matt has said. |

Imagine the mixture adjustment nut like a screw - screw it into the carby to lean it off, screw it out to enrich. I'd also check your air filter, since a poor filter will restrict air and enrich the mixture. Also check your oil filler cap and dipstick, make sure they have a reasonable seal. The engine usually runs with a slight vacuum, and having air running in can make it go 'funny.' Not exactly sure what it does, but just know from experience. |

From what minilee has described to me it's one of two things, the choke is stuck out or the mixture screw it totally wide open. Since he has fiddled with the mixture all the way closed and it still runs then I suggest it's the choke stuck open. Bring her over as planned this weekend and I'll take good care of it, along with all the other stuff we said we'd do... P.S. I charge by the Horse Power gained/recovered ![]() ![]() |
