My rocker cover has an outlet off the top. From the inside there appears to be something with the similar texture to steel wool. Currently this is not connected to anything someone mentioned it may run to the carby (my carby does have a blocked off opening at shall we say "8 o''clockish") is this true? & what should I do with it. |

Errrrr.....Ummmmm........try some Emission Hose, it's less prone to Rot from the Oil.... |

It'll work just fine, provided you don't have any other breathers on the motor, except maybe in the filler cap... 
Here's my 1412 setup when I had the SU on it- no other breathers connected. Worked fine.

Any chance this will affect the tune on my SU? Yeap, connect the rocker cover breather to that one on your carb. They usually have a restrictor on that inlet on the carb, choking it down to ~3mm diameter. You also need to check that your Oil Filler cap is a vented type. |

I tried both vented and unvented caps, made no difference on the 1412 I could tell. Same story on Barney's 1293 (had twin HS4 police pack carbs). |

K . Connect it up & check cap is vented (or not) 
Will this affect tune? Doc how many breathers should u have on a 1275 & where should I look? Back of the block radiator side? Let you know how I go tomor. |

People will disagree with me here and say you need 3 breathers, but I currently run only 1 breather, from the rocker cover on both my 1412 and 1360. It works fine up to 7000 rpm or more, no oil leaks out anywhere, even the dipstick. I know people who win Nb races whilst running NO breathers. I have the flywheel housing one on the 1412 but it's capped off, because on long LH bends at high rpm the primary gear throws heaps of oil up it. I have none on either timing cover, because I'm running 2 belt drive kits not chains. On the 1360 I have just added a 12mm vent pipe from the flywheel housing breather flange up to the rocker cover, we'll see how that goes when the motor is back in.

I run one breather clutch side to my carb, the head one to my catch tank. made this a while ago, but not got around to putting it on the car yet. and i currently have the same one as you fiji.

One 1/2" breather is more than enough - if your piston rings are up to scratch........ |
