Hi to all,

My name is Bruno and I live in New York in the USA. I have a 1969 Mini K that was purchased from Minisport by a married couple.
They were on sabbatical in Australia (Westminster School) and when they returned, brought the car back with them in 2001.
They sold it in 2007 and I bought it from that 2007 buyer.

The car has had Cooper upgrades such as a 1275s, additional gas tank, brake booster, oil cooler and Minilites. This was done before the couple bought the car. The car was also painted green and white. It was originally white.

Most pics were taken when I bought the car but I've since cleaned it up a bit. Just installed 4 Falken Sinceras and 4 Boge shocks.

I'm looking for an original BMC Mini K steering wheel (as seen in my avatar) so if any one has one for sale, please send me a PM.

if you put post a message in the "Wanted" forum, you'll get plenty of replies. They were fitted to early Leyland minis as well.

99% of those original steering wheels are cracked, but very repairable.

When I got the car it had a 13" wheel that was made in France. Don't know the manufacturer.
I traded it for an original Austin wheel and like you said, it also has cracks.

you might find the hardest part is getting a wheel with the BMC in the centre of the rubber pad (as per your photo), instead of the Leyland logo

might not help you much, but the wheels weren't just for minis, other Morris' had them too. My car had the Leyland logo in the centre when I got it, but I 'borrowed' the BMC centre from a Morris 1300

Out of curiosity, why do you want the original wheel? Is this just for originality?

A smaller wheel is much easier to use, and if you're quite tall like me, a smaller wheel is really an essential item.

Yes....for originality and I like the feel of the bigger wheel.

my 2 cents on that...

I'm 6'4", and I will only use the big wheel in my car... I drive it every day, and compete once a month

occasionally I drive a car with a little wheel, and it's just yuck - so much extra muscle required, and I can't relax and just hold the bottom of the wheel while cruising along

That's interesting - I'm also 6'4", and I just prefer the smaller wheel.

Agree 100% I love the big "bus" std wheels, so nice during cruise and carparks are easy too!

Little sports wheels make it too "twichy"

Yeah I'm a big wheel fan too although I swap it for a slightly smaller period Maxrob sometimes. I've also found, after always having the drop bracket to lower the column, that I prefer the steering wheel in the standard position esp if the big wheel is fitted.

It tends to make you use the old (more correct) push pull technique when steering too.

Just wondering, is the earlier "Morris" the same diametr as the Mk11 wheel Bruno is after? And what about the later 3 spoke Leyland Wheels?

Welcome to the forum. If you are in despirate need for a while, I'm sure i've got one or two that are good enough to repair.

I'm a whole foot shorter than Simon, and I like my big wheels, too. The Clubman 3 spoker is my choice for motorkhanas.
