I suppose this one does have a bit of history!

http://www.classicthrottleshop.com/car8.html

The car was local here in Newcastle until recently.

Originally a UK 997 I believe.

Don't know if Throttle do 'consignment' sales

Nice Car! :D

Just a couple of questions, At what year did the lower valance have the cut out of for brake cooling? And also which cars originally had the amber indicator lens's? Bit of a steep price tag for what is essentially another "Cooper S" mock up?

Bit harsh Hanra! Very nice car with true racing history.
Someone has had a decent spend, regardless of our opinions.

I bet Digby wishes he had kept it!

It is a very rare car and probably deserves to be expensive. It may not have been built as a Copper S but it was raced in the 60s as a Cooper S after it was finished racing as a Cooper. (CAMS did allow cars to be upgraded to save costs)
It might be a fake S but it would be the most valuable fake S in the country. And probably worth a more than a lot of real S's.

The English Cooper and Cooper S came with orange blinkers, so they are correct.

Must have been the same year he won the Australian Gold Star in an F5000.

They must think that the Australian Champion Driver was a touring car driver.

I remember John Leffler saying that Peter Wherrett had advised him to go into open wheelers - "there's no future in tin-tops John"

He had a couple of locations over the years. He's now at St George Suspension and steering (or was last time I had a mini).

If I had that kind of money to spend on a Mini, this one would certainly be it.
