Post subject: | dash cad file |
Hey everyone, Reading some old threads in preparation of getting stuck into my new dash. Saw a cool thread about 77club's perspex dash and was intrigued. It was from 2008 so pretty old. He said that he would email out the cad file if anyone wants it. He doesn't seem to be on the forum anymore so I was wondering if anyone got a copy of this bad boy and if so can I have one ![]() Cheers David |

hey Bob, If I hear anything I will let you know. I have the following link that might be helpful. I might print this out, cut it out in card and see if it fits If so maybe I will draw it up in cad at some point before I die. David http://www.scottishmini.net/forum/showt ... tliner-etc |

I could probably draw something up if you like, although I can't be bothered dimensioning it seeing as there is already a PDF with dimensions on. I can do the lines the same as the other one and then host it with my hotfile.com account so people could download as they pleased, without having to PM someone for an email. |

Have a bit of a look if you want. I have basically blown the PDF of the dash's up to about the right size and then 'traced' over the top - they are by no means spot on. I have never built a dash from those dimensions so I am not even sure they would fit properly. My suggestion would be to mark it out on cardboard first and make sure it fits before getting the dash made up in perspex. Feel free to modify it if you wish but a couple of measurements that I measured off were within 0.2mm. N.B. I have drawn the dash's in metre's. Also, you don't need to sign up for a rapidshare account, just click no and then click free download ![]() |

1018cc, is that in a CAD format? if so, what can i use aside from CAD to open it? |

CAD itself is not a format, it's a tool. Regardless of what opens the file it will be some variety of design program. |

Hello Raisto, it is a .dwg format. This is basically industry standard because most people who do 2D drafting use AutoCAD. I backwards save these so AutoCAD 2004 through to AutoCAD 2012 should open that file. They are the same dash's as in the scottishmini.net link that floss posted earlier. I have not done club77's dash as I don't know the dimensions etc. I did this just to help people out. |

You can download Autodesk's (the people who make AutoCAD) free .dwg viewer. Note it is only a viewer though and I have no idea if you can do dimensioning in it etc. I have never used it due to having access to AutoCAD for my job. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?id=6703438&siteID=123112 |

Well I hope it works for you. I guess it just depends what you want to do with it on your end. Let me know if you want some changes made to it and I can re-up a new version of the file, even if you just want to print it out in your free program, draw on it in pen and then send me a scan / picture of it. |

Thanks 1018cc!! I can't look at it on this computer but will on my other one later. In the next few weeks I might use your file and the pdf and do some measuring and stuff and try and mock something up. If so I will let you all know. Things are a bit nuts at the moment so maybe nit right away The particular one club77 had was a dwg file that he sent to his perspex people and they used that file to laser cut his dash out. It must have been pretty spot on to do this so that is why I was trying to get a copy of that file. DAVID |
