I used 2 x twin relay NLR-132 fused for 30A. One relay does main and high beam (H4 conversion) while the other does the four (100 watt each) driving lights.

What sort of headlight relays do people run? Would prefer something I can stick a fuse into, but at this point am open to options. I've heard good things about a particular relay, it's a New Era NLR-132 I know a lot of people prefer to run these, but i'm having trouble tracking them down. Does anyone know where I can get one (preferably pick it up in sydney instead of buy it online) Or What alternative do you recommend? |

Supercheap used to sell New Eras (I got 2 there) but they now only keep the cheapo crap. Maybe Autobarn or Repco can order one in? Another option is just use 2x Bosch or Hella single relays, they will do the same job. |

I think you will be more than happy with a decent brand name automotive relay. Bosch or similar, I've not had any problems with the standard Hella relays although convertible mini might be the SME on this brand. |

There is no doubt that the New Era's are good, I'm still running a couple that are near 25 years old, but these days I just fit the compact Hella ones, there is a model that has a fuse http://db.hella.com.au/cgi-bin/catalogu ... lmaint=190 and I fit them in to a plug in base http://db.hella.com.au/cgi-bin/catalogu ... ories#1061 easy as. The New Era's while good don't have 'fast-on' connectors and are huge. |

Jaycar also sell a model of relay that has a built in fuse if it helps. I have no idea of the brand or anything though. |

Dave's photo above looks just like new era's reincarnated. I also had trouble finding genuine New Era's the last time I looked. There is a distributor in Kurrajong Avenue Mt Druitt however that I found. I went there and bought them off him. I'll see if I can dig out the receipt for the name and street address, but they weren't that far along on the Westfields side of Kurrajong on the left hand side as you head west. KB |

I always prefer ton use Bosch Mini relays. You can also buy the little mounting blocks for them to make them just a plug in job. The only thing I do not like about the New Era ones is that they have too many exposed "LIVE" terminals which are not a good thing for confined spaces. Unfortunately I have not mastered putting Pics up on this site yet so I can show you how I do mine. |

I always used the Bosch 5 pin relays. Make sure they are the normally open ones though as the Change over which also have 5 pin can not handle the high current. Change over relays can still be used for circuits lower than 20 Amps. and use the 87 terminal for load. Usually Change over relays are more expensive. |
