Hi all,

Do any of you fellow racers out there buff your Yoko A032's?

I'm assuming not but want to get the most out of them.

I know I used to buff the old A008's but they were pretty ordinary compared to the Advans.

Your opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
HRS

Never buffed but like nearly all tyres they feel heaps better on the second or third heat cycle ... First time out they always feel like your driving on Ice

We dont buff our advans for hillclimbing or sprinting purposes. Just a quick burnout before each run!

Haven't buffed them, but heat cycling makes a huge difference.

->HIJACK: Does anyone know if tyre softening compound will work to rejuvinate a set of old 32Rs or are they fully synthetic?

Well I have a set of well used (but were unbuffed) when i got them and a brand new set (also unbuffed). After a couple of runs in the slalom, the brand new set felt soo much better than the old set. Hard to tell how much it affected times because the conditions were different on the different days.

Looking at the well used ones, the outside of the tread and shoulder are fairly well worn down and the inside is about 50%. There was no blistering or graining, and most importantly no big chunks torn off. This means that the "blocks" were not squirming, overheating and shearing off. And they were off the fastest Nb car, with the best pedaller behind the wheel, so if they were not working hard, then its nobodies business.

I think this is just a suck it and see kind of thing. Make sure that you have the camber set up for them because looking at the guys who run them, they take quite a lot of camber.

cheers
michael

Unbuffed on the Nb had them form new - now past useable after several events. Loved them so much I have a set of them on the Cooper S for road duties.

Just be careful on the first few runs.
