Hey guys, I have a universal wiring kit which I am currently hooking up, one of these puppies: http://www.ezwiring.com/wiring_harness.html
Anyway its all very straight forward since all the wires are labelled, Im just having trouble with the alternator. I have two wires to hook up and they are labelled, alternator exciter and alternator power.
My alternator is a Bosch from an EA falcon so I have the S, L and B terminals.
I have the B hooked in to the starter solenoid with a heavy gauge wire. Would I be right in thinking I have to hook 'alternator power' to the B, piggy-back the B to the S post and connect the exciter to the L post?

I've not used Alternators with Terminals marked as yours, however, it appears that the S Terminal is a sense for the Regulator and is connected to B+ve similar to one of the Lucas Alternators (16 ACR?). I would suggest connecting this Terminal to the Solenoid rather than the Alternator Output Terminal, that way the internal Regulator will adjust to Battery Voltage rather than Alternator Output, since there will be some (small) voltage drop in the Output Wire between the Alternator and the Solenoid.

The L Terminal connects to the Warning Lamp (with the other side of the Lamp also connected to B+ve).

The Bosch alternator on an EA falcon has
S =sensing .
L + lamp
B+ + Battery.
The S terminal can be connected to the B+ itself, But if it is connected to a positive At the fuse box it will sense the demand for charge better.
The L just goes to the Ignition /Battery warning lamp.
Also remember that the EA falcon Alternator is capable of pushing out 85 Amps and you will need to use two 6 mm cables in parallel for the B+ as one 6mm cable on it's own can only carry 50 amps and it will get a bit warm and cause a voltage drop.
If you got a second hand EA one, make sure you wash all the power steering fluid out of it !!! Most of them copped a lot of it.
