You use it to torque up the big nut on the end of the cv joint on some disk braked cars that have a tapered split washer under the nut. From memory you assemble the CV joint into the drive flange then fit the 'tool' and torque it up. Then you undo it, and remove the 'tool' and replace it with the tapered washer and torque it back up. Its something to do with the tapered washer locking into the taper and stopping it from pulling together correctly. They are a pretty expensive washer really. Tim |

IMO you can get the same effect by just turning the tapered washer over, torqueing it up then undo and reverse the washer... ![]() |

Thanks I thought it was for torqueing up the CV, Yes exspensive I will make one up from some bar stock next time I am my mates (still to purchase Lathe) Ta Kiwiinwgtn |
