So I have just one a very rusty 850 on ebay for $250

Though I still believe any mini these days is a good investment I have to work out how to get it and where to put it..

Does anyone have a car trailer I can borrow? :D

I am not that good with 850 numbers but I think it would be late 61 or early 62. It would not be any later than that.

My 850 number 110185/12178 was delivered 14.6.1962, so I'd say early-mid '62.

'YMA2S1' is the 'Type' of an 850. 'YMA2S2' is a Deluxe...

Congratulations on your purchase by the way :D

How rusty? Unless it has alot of rust in the roof $250 for a complete early 850 is good. New panels are cheap, easy to get and not too hard to fit

Know the feeling - beer and ebay DO NOT mix!

I bid on an 850 and it hit reserve.........woke up the next morning after thinking how to fit it in the garage and I was still the winning bidder!

Just before the end it went to someone else.......part happy, part sad.....is now in Unique cars for $3,500 more than the winning bid!

Are you going to restore it Mike?

Yeah the plan is to completely do the body and then drop my 1380 in it.

My car is just getting a bit sloppy and I'm over big wheels and want to do something a bit more retro.

Its amazing how the people who 'don't know' make you feel stupid for doing it but i still think it was a good move.

I desperately need a trailer now though..

Try Doogie for a trailer. He takes beer in exchange.

Where do you have to pick it up from , Mike ?

Don't worry about what you just bought, it's only money.! I did the same thing a couple of years ago, i spotted a Ford Laser on Ebay, very tidy car , no bidders, so i thought i'd have a crack at it , Bugger me if i didn't win it :o , my daughter is still driving it around , turned out to be a great little car :D

I don't have a trailer to lend but if all else fails you could always try this mob, they have car trailers:http://www.selfmovehire.com/html/trailer_types.html

Not sure where you are exactly but a quick look says Wentworthville, Old Guildford and St Andrews hire car trailers, pick up is usually from a local servo so they should be contactable over the long weekend.

Good luck!

The problem with hire trailers is that they are built for towing big vehicles. Many will exceed the towing capacity of an average car on their own. Last time I retrieved an ebay 'win' I had to hire a 4wd flat tray to pull the combination of trailer and van. It worked out well because the ute was so capable, it made it totally stress free, but it cost a fair bit to hire them both.
