Post subject:  High Beam on an early indicator stalk??

I would like to have my high beams on the stalk instead of on the floor.
Problem is I don't want to use a later model column. I want to have the eary column shroud, a center horn button on the steering wheel, and a chrome stalk.
I've been scratching my head lining up varous stalks etc, has anyone tried something like this before?

you'd have to cut a slot in the early shroud to make it work wouldn't you?

does the late stalk assembly even fit under an early shroud? it's pretty chunky

Late stalks won't fit under early shroud as it sits very close to the column itself.
Only way I can think of to make it look factory and function is to modify the existing completely so that it goes up down and forwad.
What you then do is rig the forward movement of the stick to control a latching relay to operate the high beams. You could also free up some space at the base of the stalk by removing asll the original contacts and having the indicators relay controlled too, so that way you'd only need three micro switches up at the top of the column.

Thats how my Bini stalks work. All the swithing functions are only TT level inputs and microswitches. Actual switching is done elsewhere.
:D

They're getting pretty rare now, but post '67 Morris 1100 indicator stalks have an integrated high-beam flasher...

...oh you want full control, not just a high-beam flash huh?

cheers,

Yeah the 1800's had it on the stalk also, they look exactly the same I think

Flash only would be fine, like Harley proposes, high / low can be controled with a latching relay.

Looks like I need to go hunting... Any one got a 1100 or 1800 stalk by any chance?

The Morris 1100 is totally different. It will not fit under the column cowl. You know how the Mini switch bolts to the side of the column, the 1100 bolts to the top of the column.
