Hey Guys, Moving house soon and the top end of mine is still apart. Will spend 1/2 a day and get it all back together (dont want to trailer it, as this gives me a reason to pull my finger out and get it finished) So - the question is - what do you do with them if they sat for months (5+ months) - Dump the fuel thats in it and replace with fresh fuel? - Oil? It was changed recently (ie/ 6months ago - so still new) Replace or leave it? - Anything else? - Battery - yes, it is stuffed but was before I parked her. So ill replace that anyway. - Cobwebs - yeah, its being guarded by a MASSIVE Huntsman, he lives in the mini anyway lol - damn it scared the bejesus out of me! Ran up my arm and neck when I opened the door lol. Cheers, Peter |

Definitely dump the fuel- but the oil should be OK if it looks clean. If worried about it, run until hot then dump it. |

My oil ALWAYS looks black and sooty - you know why. Ok, so just dump the fuel and go from there I guess. I am not worried about the motor per se - more the turbo not being spun in months and what happens to oil in the lines... then again, as usual with mine, F it and ill change fuel and just get it started.

My Mini sat from late September last year until April 23rd - seven months - when I fired it up and drove off for a splash of new fuel (rest of tank was 7 months old) then for emissions testing. No tuning done just go FAIL and put 3 months insurance on it. Passed all test categories but hydrocarbons at idle with HIF 44 feeding 1380. Oil was clean as if just put in. No evidence of moisture in fuel or oil or of oil in coolant. Will drive and use up all the old fuel. Change out the oil and filter, change fuel filters (after tank/before electric fuel pump and before carb), lubricate, inspect all suspension and brake components...drive to California. |

Honestly, i'm lazy and i would just start it up, drive it to the servo and fill it up with fresh fuel. You could always see what the petrol smells like, and rub it between your fingers and see what its like. I've started heaps of cars that sit around for ages and ages on whats left in the tank. If the fuel can burn it should go bang in the motor. You shouldn't have any oil related problems besides taking a moment to build pressure, you could always prime it first if your worried. |

To be honest, I read about the huntsman and thought "Well, that's an insurance write off in my book". Then I found this pic: 
Coconut crab, real photo. Normally weighs about 4.1kg but there are reports in literature of them weighing up to 14kg. In terms of your mini, check the brakes haven't locked on. Good luck with the spider. |
