Post subject:  Which Brakes...?

Hi All,

I am looking at upgrading from front drums to discs and as the pound is good vs the dollar I think now is the time!

My question: Which is best? (product/support/customer service/website ease of use, etc)

Product A: http://www.minisport.com/mini-spare-parts/info_MS2680KIT.html
Product B: http://minispares.com/Product.aspx?ty=pb&pid=42540&title=

Any input welcomed.

I've always bought from Minispares for the last 10 or more years- and I've never had anything go astray.

I used the other mob once, 15 years ago and the 2kg shipment took 10 weeks. Some dill put it on a boat.....
They also supplied another ausmini member with a `special' Cooper S drive flange- um, they forgot to put the splines in it...

I've used both, never had anything lost completely but have had the odd fasteners missing out of kits and stuff.
I find minispares service to be better, so I use them more.
:D

thanks for your thoughts guys - I think minispares it is!

Are the minispares callipers any good or the AP (oem) ones worth the extra $$$?

The cheapo ones are slightly different shape and I've been told won't fit in all the wheels that the AP ones do.
eg LS offset Contessas.

Thanks Doc.

....and your thoughts on the backing plates - are they worth it? Do they help or are they a hinderance?

Don't worry about the back plates..they only let rocks get stuck in them between the rotors

Try Huddersfeild mini spares, usually cheaper than the big 2.

Hi Jubblies, I am looking at the same set up C - AJJ4028MS, the freight price should be interesting.

This kit is as big as you'll fit under 10" wheels?

Yep they can be slightly cheaper. However the downside is, from memory, they don't have a "kit" you have to sit there and make sure you have everything on the order and it fits together etc... and sometimes their freight is a bit more.. but its worth a look.. all depends on the timing...

I have bought from all 3 and no huge problem.. Mini spares as mentioned are easier to deal with, and postage cheapest generally..

If you can spare the extra $$ go for the AP set...the quality difference is huge... I've experience both.. and will only buy the AP now.. oh and as Gafmo says, forget the backing covers,, not even worth considering ..as he says crap gets stuck there and a PITA..
