OK I am starting to work on my project and have noticed that it sits WAY too low to the ground. I havent had a good chance to jack it up and get under it to see if there is anything that i can do with the suspension, but i have noticed that the muffler pretty much hangs to the ground.

I am going to investigate fitting hi los to raise the car but is there anything i can do with the muffler in the mean time to ensure i dont drag it along? Is there an optimum distance from the car body to muffler that i should adhere to?

Also can anyone confirm if these are "universal"

That kit will fit your mini, however, unless you really want hilo's you may just need to replace the rubber donuts and knuckle joints.

you might just have some broken exhaust mounts under there... the muffler should be neatly tucked up inside the subframe. On a normal setup, the battery box hangs lower than the exhaust does

Unfortunately the battery box has been remvoed and new flat "boot plate" has been welded in so there goes that comparison...

Is it possible for a set of extractors to be too 'long'. The front of the exhaust is much lower than the back.

Maybe. The 1275 engines are 10 mm taller than all other blocks. Once upon a time, you could buy extractors for either, but I think most are now just for 1275's and so are 'taller' and when fitted to smaller engines hang down lower but not usually a problem.

I have a LCB manifold on my 998 with an RC40 exhaust. The muffler sits fine, it can't really go much higher without fouling the body. Your exhaust should be held quite firmly in place with the rubber mounts.

The y-piece is the lowest part of the exhaust though. As GT Mowog said, the LCBs are all made for 1275 engines, so it sits a little lower than necessary.

i assure you dude... it would have more ground clearance than my moke at the moment...

I'd have to agree with that also.

With the bottom of the LCB hanging down so low aqs its beween the wheels as long as you don't runn over a small object (Brick, Cat) but speed humps will be fine. But get in under the rear and have a look & shake I'm bettering the brackets or the rubbers are eather loose or need replacing
