Post subject: | noob question---- blower setup |
Hey all, Just reading through a couple of posts on here bout s/c 12 setups, wondering if im right in saying blow thru system is: air filter--->charger---->carby--->inlet and pull through is: airfilter---->carb----->charger----->inlet or am I way off the mark. Also whats the pro and cons of both setups?? I'm thinking the blowthru would be heaps easier for me to setup Cheers Heaps Hoba |

Blow thru is easier but you have to have a carby that is designed to take the pressure. Suck thru means you have petrol inside the blower and some blowers can't take it. |

so would a dellorto dhla be designed to take the pressure and if not do sc12 like the petrol?? |

and if not do sc12 like the petrol?? SC12 is OK with petrol main issue with putting a big blower like the SC12 or the BMW blower is space - the only really possible place is behind the head. There's no room for plumbing from an air filter to the blower then through a carb. |

what if I mounted it in front of the head?? surely there's enough space to route a couple of headers through to the carb |

surely there's enough space to route a couple of headers through to the carb maybe - I think I tried it once on a roundie and was too big, but the only thing holding you back is that you're stopping to ask the questions - get hold of one and give it a go ![]() |

Only the 45 dellortos fitted to the early Lotus 2.2L turbo. Your average carby off an Alfa would need to be modified. |

good point simon its just the $$$ getting in the way at the moment. By modified awdMoke... how modified?? and what modified?? I read a thing on this forum somewhere about putting a copper ring somewhere in the carb to stop airpressure from blowing the fuel back through the jets.... or something along those lines |

No idea on the specifics of the mods. Your best bet would be to search on "dellorto" over on http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php The other way I've seen it done is with the standard carby enclosed in an air box which is kept pressurised by the blower. |

I think it's more along the lines of putting boost pressure into the float chamber to equalise the air pressure on both sides of the fuel tract this might be the thread you're thinking of http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=69229 |

Just read up on the DHLA 40 mod. Dellorto have a kit that allows the carby to take a boost line to float chamber to equalize pressure looks like its gonna be a blow through system..... Will post pics of the finished modified carbie |
