As far as I know, the difference between perrys and LCBs on a small bore is minimal unless you're at high revs (where the LBC is marginally better).

So the LCBs are better performance-wise, but they're more of a pain to fit, the y-piece is difficult to seal properly and they usually sit lower to the ground (since most LCBs these days are designed to fit on both large and small bore engines).

Having said this, I have LCBs on my 998, and I love them. I just don't like how low they are to the ground.

i have also been wondering what exhaust system to use, however i have a 1275 build.

take a look at the articles on this website, they may help you understand the importance of exhaust choice and you motor.

The perry's are fitted at the moment. So it is not worth changing them?

My exhaust is an RC40 1 3/4 pipe

I never had any problem with them and they were reasonably cheap! :D

The 1981 Perry's on the Cooper S never rusted out like the 1988 Janspeed ones that I had on the 1275LS.

On an engine of that 'spec', it won't make any noticable difference which way, so I'd say the 3 in to 1' (short) as they will make life easier.
