you could do Drmini's trick
He has the same problem, so would you believe it, he put a stainless steel screw in one, and then drilled a hole in the other side, to make it look real!

I've got a new set of mirrors i want to put on my car, i currently only have a drivers side mirror but the new mirror has it's mounting holes closer together so i have the problem of having 1 hole visible when i go to put it on. the options i can think of are: 1. plug the hole with a plastic plug - ugly but cheap 2. create an adapting plate that will go into the current holes and mount the mirror to that plate - neater but might not look very good - relatively cheap 3. take it to a panel beater and get them to fill/weld the hole up and paint the door - expensive, paint might not match well (metallic) - best result. Any other ideas? |

Depending on the mirrors, mount the new mirror on the old stalk. |

As a Spraypainter, my opinion is that if the colour dosn't match, you shouldn't be paying for the job. Unless the paint on the rest of the car is REALLY old and crappy, there's no reason why they can't match it. I would

drive to QLD and back, and your car will have more paint chips that will look a lot more worse than a screw in the door, LOL! |

I would funny that... it never matches. but hey my paint is old and daggy so i dont care. |

I'd look around for a small stainless steel or chrome dome headed style bolt with a thin rubber washer on it and put it in there, cheap and easy. |

I got alloy bracket made up to bolt through The old hole and my door and it held The new mirror on and covered the old holes. I get you a few pictures tonight |

What about filling the hole but then painting a section a contrasting colour (like matt black or something similar) so then you kill two birds and dont have to worry about paint matching.... |

With the money you've spent on that car, you're worried about paying a panelbeater to do the job properly?

my other life is as a homebrewer... most of us beermakers make our own gaskets and washers where we can out of the new trend of silicon baking trays... they're brilliant, heat resistant, food grade and will last forever... grab a flat silicon baking tray and presto, you can cut any gasket and washer you like
