Hi, I bought these JBW 10x5 wheels & tyres from Midland Wheels a few weeks back for $598.00 including delivery. I am happy with them so far. The offset is okay if you have a Cooper S with standard Mark 2 wheels arch flares. I haven't got any pics with them on my mini, though I may take a few shots on the weekend, let me know and i will upload them. Roc ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That seems like a great deal. New tyres & rims for a little over the price of new tyres then add on fitting & balancing here. |

Fitment would be similar. ![]() For the Minilite ones I can see no difference in the descriptions of the Mini/Cooper and Cooper S. The size is the same, the offset is the same and the price is the same (no Cooper S tax for a change). They look like they will fit as well under the standard flares as any other 10 x 5 available these days. Not sure if they are intended to be fitted to Cooper S without flares, The only decent (IMHO) alloy wheels that will fit a Cooper S without flares are the LS offset Contestas (can't get new anymore) and the Rosepetal style. The JBW version of the latter is only 4.75" wide though. cheers michael |

Here are some pics of my mini with these mags. Yeah, I am happy to support the local guys though I got quoted $560.00 for 4x Falkens at my local Bob Jane. The way I look at it, I paid an extra $40.00 for the mags. Bargain!!! Plus my contessa's were really old and dodgy, so the choice was easy. I bought 7 5"x10" Minilites for my sedan/trailer combination. They fit under City flairs...that is, outside the bodywork. However, Minilite has a 10" rim with the offset to fit within the body work ala Mini Cooper S without flairs. From Minilite web site... Thanks all Seems the guys at Midland Wheels don't understand that our Mk2's have flares anyway after seeing Rocco's wheels which were the ones that I wanted in the first place I have decided to order a set but with Yoko A008's |

If you want real Minilites you need the 4.5X10 "FIA" offset version to fit over S brakes without flairs. They make the same sizes in a number of offsets so be sure what you need when you order.. Cheers, Ian |

This gets confusing! I'm curious as to whether I could run Minilites (not Minilights / Minilifes / etc) over my standard Cooper S 7.5" discs + stepped rear drums without flares or other modifications, and how much it would affect the car's handling and braking performance relative to the same tyres fitted to 5x10 wheels. Anyone know what the "correct" offset is (i.e. which ET figure you would quote / request) ? Would there be any problems fitting the popular 165/70/10 tyres like Dunlop D93J, Yokohama A032R or Yokohama A008? |

no comments on the offsets, but all of those tyres are perfect to fit to 4.5" wheels I'd say these are the right ones to run without flares - http://www.midlandwheels.com/Shop/P-225 ... per-S.html - should be minilite part number MA1045DS another point there is that they list D93J's at 83.40GBP, and A032's at 58.85 - the price difference is the opposite to out here where A032's are usually much more expensive ![]() |

" If you want real Minilites you need the 4.5X10 "FIA" offset version to fit over S brakes without flairs.." I'm not sure which part of my comment you didn't understand.... The " FIA" refers to the specification that was homologated for the Works cars WBW. 008s juuuuuussst fit - with a titch of negative camber. Don't forget that these wheels were introduced to use 145 section competition tyres. 5" wheels would probably be optimum for 165 tyres but they will stick out... Cheers, Ian |

I have done some measurements. For the rears these number definately work. For the fronts, not confirmed yet. If you want 10x5 wheels to fit without flares on stepped drums then they should have an offset (ET) of 37mm like the LS Contessas. These give just enough clearance to the trailing arm when using A032R 165/70/10 tyres. I measured Falken FK07E 165/70/10 tyres as being 6mm wider over the sidewalls so they would tighten the gap to the trailing arms. Even this small amount may mean they rub. Any larger offset than 37mm will lead to rubbing on the trailing arms. You could probably go a few mm less offset, say to 34mm. If you want to run Mk2 S flares (or innocenti/rover plastic ones), which on the rear give 21mm more width at the top than the standard wheel arch trim, and you want the 10x5 wheels to fill the arches then you need an offset of 16mm. Coincidently, the 'SS' or 'standard' Contessas have an ET of 17mm. If you want to run Mk2 S flares and the widest rims possible with the tyres not sticking out more than those above, while using stepped drums, then the size should be 5.5x10 with an ET of between 23mm to 31mm. If you want to run Mk2 S flares and the widest rims possible with the tyres sticking out just 5.5mm more than those above, while using stepped drums, then the size should be 6x10 with an ET of 24mm. It is very disappointing that Midland and other suppliers of wheels for minis can't/don't/won't publish offsets. Any reasonable supplier for any other type of car sure does. I suggest asking them to give you the ET/offset for any wheel you are considering and check against the above. Have you noticed how many people are buying the 10x6 Mambas then having to get bigger flares? I suspect their offset is more like 16mm when it should be 24 for the nest fit. M |
