Post subject: | Remote Change Rubber - There's a hole! |
Noticed last night after an oil change and degrease that there is a little hole (about the size of my little finger) in the seal at the front/gearbox side of the remote. I remember my Morris 1100 was forever in need of new 'sandwich plates', but just wondering if there's meant to be a hole or I need to replace the whole seal/rubber sandwich plate. If so, whats the proper name of this rubber bit so I can order one? ![]() |

There is a "half moon" sort of shaped piece of rubber that goes in there. I don't know exactly what they call it but it shouldn't take much explaining to a supplier for them to know what you want. |

So does it just slip in or is it remote out? Thanks! Evan |

If I remember correctly you should be able to sneak it in with just loosening the remote and dropping it down a little. |

A while ago I needed one and was unaware they were still available. So I used some Selleys Allclear instead... `if it's selleys it works". ![]() |

In 30 something years of playing with Minis and 1100s I have never ever had a seal in a remote. And I have never ever has a problem caused by it! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

And I have never ever has a problem caused by it! ![]() ![]() ![]() It's more important to have that flat metal cover over the slots on top (above the bellcrank's cross pin). Not all remotes got this cover, those that don't have a magnetic attraction for nuts/bolts/washers/random bits that fall down the back. This can spoil your whole gearshifting experience... ![]() |
