Post subject:  998 onto a magic wand gearbox

Evening All,

I emailed Graham Russell the other night to get some pricing on pistons and things for my 998 rebuild and he mentioned that I'd need to mod the gearbox a touch to get it to fit.

Is there anything else I need to be aware of?

Can you use a magic wand with a later gearbox?

Sorry about the noob questions. It's a bit more straight forward in Landcrab world :)

As long as the crank and rods miss the flange and centre web of the case there should be no other mods.
You can fit a magic wand diff housing and shifter to a 4 synchro remote box- just check the sizing and alignment of the diff bearing housing bores when bolted up. Remove the 2 dowels if you have to.

Alternatively you can fit a `puddin stirrer' shift to a stock remote box's diff housing. It works and looks much like the magic wand, and was used on Mokes and pov pack cars from 1969-73 approx.
I have pics, will add them here if/when I find them.
