6r4's are the daddy!

they varied in spec, base ones were about 320hp the top ones touched 450hp iirc, thats NA btw,

there were a few competing in rallycross over here circa 1990, the most famous/ lethal being Will Golops biturbo one that was chucking out over 800 horsies!

theres a place about 12 miles from me that makes brand new blocks for them.

yeah Page makes new engines for them, far better than the originals too,,, Xtrac make the boxes & diffs , & all VERY VERY good i might add

& they were nearly all sold as base model (250hp Clubman spec) except for a few "works" cars & "special Delivery" ones, they were fitted with all the "International Spec 380-410hp bigger cams, beefy con-rods, better valves/springs etc & superior injection system,,, & heaps of Clubbys have been upgraded to "International Spec" over the years

they had to build 200x of them "Within" one year to pass homologation & apparently they did that with literally only a couple of hours to spare,,, after which they went on to win just about every rally they raced in,,,(in the hands of decent drivers that is) if they didn`t break down or crash

Tony Pond was a legend in them & Will Gollop was just a freak of nature, very rapid driver & twin turbo-ed one of his making approx 800hp & thrashing nearly every one else

very nimble, very fast, very exciting , stop on a dime, full house rally weapon

find some old "Rally-cross" videos or dvds,,, these cars & the Audi quatros & the RS200 fords & the turbo 4x4 Peugeots were blisteringly quick
