78 Clubman Ok engine is out and project is slowly coming along. Today ripped out dash, seats, carpet, interior stuff. Plan is for the the car to be soda blasted. Want to make sure that what I rip out I should of done in a particular way. Roof lining is looking shabby and has a 15 cm tear above drivers head. The rest is sort of ok. The roof has a number of dents, like someone has tapped danced on it with steal caps. So, should I just get a knife to the roof lining and just get rid of it or should I try and take it out in one piece. I am looking a getting it professionally upholstered and would they reuse the original lining or just use new. Not fussed about the money aspect of it as it is my mid life crisis toy but just want to make sure I will end up making it a harder job then necessary. Cheers, Dave |

It is so easy to remove the hoodlining (presuming the front and rear screens are out) in one piece that you may as well do it this way. At least then you can use it as a template if getting a new one made up. |

Removing th hhodlining is not hard as long as you go slowly. I went from the front backward and it all came out ok. Don't lose the pesky little nylon clips the rods go into ( mouse condoms)! |

hod bow rods are all different sizes to so mark them if you plan to refit lining yourself. Cheers Dan |

Cheers guys, I thought of refitting myself but I want a professional looking job. It's a little while off yet anyway, soda blasting, rust removal, engine rebuild, respray....I will definitely take it out in one piece though to use as a template and mark the hood bow rods, so thanks for the info. i got my hoodlining brand new from miniking in original pattern and didnt have to trace it and isnt that hard to fit. cheers dan |
