This is on special at the local "RicerBarn"

Is it worth grabbing a few for the mini?

I haven't touched it in years, so might be better, but back then it was crap for Mini's.

it meets or exceeds the API specifications,
and is a brand name product (who only make oil) with a reputation to protect.

and its going to be the same product in every bottle.

Castrol is just a brand-name owned by BP, so they don't only make oil they just do it under a different brand name to make you think they do,

This is the re-designed GTX with anti sludge protection and god knows what other additives, I put it in one of my cars and the oil pressure has been sporadic ever since. Frankly you would be better off with KMX or whatever else, also that sale ended on the 5th

The search continues for a reasonably priced and good mini oil.

Having said that autobarn do have cheap 20w50s with nearly all catalogue sales so keep an eye, next time they may well have something worth having on sale.

I've gone off KMX - I gather it's changed due to legislation requiring removal of something-or-other, or they've changed supplier, or something... whatever the reason I found it lost oil pressure (<40psi) at idle after a 5 minute run up the freeway.

I'm back to Fuchs Formula 60, not cheap, but an immediate change in idle oil pressure (>50psi)

GTX in Mini's in my experience gives poor oil pressure. It even seems really thin when you pour it out of the container.....I would give it a miss at any price!

This thread is about oil for Minis. Why was this moved to General Discussion?
