Post subject:  Hydrolastic suspension
Hi,
Does anyone have good, high res photos of what the hydrolastic suspension hoses should look like around the bracket on the firewall, passenger side?

My Gregory's manual doesn't show the whole engine bay for context and I want to know what I'm supposed to be looking at.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks for that!

Tom, the brass nut on top of the pipe fitting is just a sealing cap, to be rmoved when I fitted the hose.

So my next hydro question:

How easy is it to get hydro parts? Like the displacer unit? I've looked on the usual websites and can't find a single thing.

Parts I'd be after would be for a Clubman - nothing spiffy like Cooper S hydro parts.

I'm tempted to convert to dry but apparently hydro is the way to go?

New hydro bags are NLA but there are plenty of S/H standard bags about, if you ask nice. :wink:
Hoses can be replaced if they blow,
Mini King can get new steel pipes.

My 1970 `matic still has the original rear bags and pipes... and no leaks (touches wood).
Front bags are 1971 GT, they came with the subby and motor... 8)

For street use, if you like a nice ride quality with great handling, yes.

BTW, does anyone here know when hydro was first used?

He may have, I wasn't actually aware of that one (no I don't have the book). John Cooper used it on one of the Formula Junior cars in 1963, but he did only use it once!

I'd say then from your post, Issy used it earlier.

I saw pics of that Cooper FJ racecar on the MM forum recently, it used M1100 bags. Looked a pretty neat setup.

I read about it and have a pic in a book. I haven't yet seen it on-line. Yeah, it did look rather neat and Cooper was standing next to it with a big smile, but clearly wasn't successful - sorry, you sure about the M1100 bags as the one I saw pre-dated them?
