Hi All Below is a pair of (from what I have been told) two right hand 1 1/4 SU's on a Peter Manton manifold for a 850 sport Could someone please confirm if they are genuine? ![]() ![]() Cheers |

Monda They (looking at the stickers on the air filters) are the Monaro Motors (NSW) version of the Sports 850 carbs. References I've heard are they are two "left" hand carby's, which is correct in your picture, but you look from the back, not the front. I've got the Manton set with the Peter Manton cast into the manifold. The ribbed casting looks similar but I can only presume Monaro motors used a blue label on the flat spot of the manifold. "Sports850" on this forum has studied these models. He'll pop up soon. Cheers Alex. |

This is the same car but closer. Manifold seems to look the similar to yours. ![]() |

we should wait for sports850, but his internet access is patchy so he doesn't get on much I've seen a few sets of double left hander twins on cars, it was probably a fairly common DIY mod as well as the actual manton/s850 ones. the choke linkage poking up at the at top of your first picture is unusual, and matches phillb's photo, as does the throttle cable bracket |

nice one guys, thats a great help, looking promising, they came off a vic registered 850 (non sports) it was missing the sticker on the manifold which I think confirmed it as a peter manton manifold, just want confirmation |

just don't be too disappointed if they're not the genuine article... I reckon comparing the choke linkage will be the key to it. The non-genuine ones I've seen have used a twin core choke cable with one core going to each carb - the one in phillb's appears to have some sort of linkage from below (?) |

As I said before, I used to tune a genuine one in the 60s. Choke operated on 1 carb only, there was no linkage between them. |

There were kits available from Manton, BMC, Warneford and others that all used the same bits. I have some manifolds that are all the same except for the riveted on plate. Warneford (Automotive Carburettor Company) would have made the kits for all of them. |

OK, below are a few more pics of the linkage as requested, I pulled these apart about 10 years ago and not 100% sure if I put them back the same way, I also have a few extra linkages and brackets could be off the twins or other single carbs?? ![]() ![]() ![]() |
