So, is it bad if my dizzy is firing no.1 at about 5 o'clock? All the posts I've read on here in my searches seem to suggest 2 o'clock is usually about right. She starts alright but she's running pretty rough, putt-putt-putting no matter how I set the timing. Here's the dizzy which I assume is the original: ![]() ![]() |

Just means the dizzy drive shaft (or drive dog) is 180° out. You can change it around and move the leads 180° to make the purists happy, but it won't go any better. ![]() |

Thanks! I thought it might be that, it was just the fact it's at 5 instead of 8 o'clock that had me wondering! |

Running rough after you re-did the timing leaves plugs, points, leads and finally coil for eliminating electrical/bad spark causes. Unless it's a mixture-related putt putt putting? Had a play with the carb yet? |

Tomorrow's job is to have another play with the mixture. New coil so it shouldn't be that. I'll try a new set of plugs tomorrow as well. I'm getting spark at each of the plugs. I've just cleaned the carb last weekend as well so maybe there's a vacuum leak somewhere? All things I still have to look at! |
