Post subject: | COOPER S DISTRIBUTOR, how to identify. |
I bought a massisave JOB LOT today, I am searching throught the parts i have and i have so far found cooper S spedo's, brakes, boosters, S boxes, airfilters etc, so much stuff. Anyway i am trying to distunguish a cooper S distrubtor apart from a standard. I havent been in the mini game for a while, so some help would be good. I know the major differance is no vacume advance, But pictures and stuff would help. |

They are a 23D4, no vac advance, & have a long pin for the breaker points. p/nos 40819B, or 40819H. |

Not near my MkII at the moment, so what are the part no.s for the MkII dizzys? I know they are quite different to all other mini dizzys in size(larger), but can't recall the number. |

Here is a picture of a 23D it might help. ![]() I am running a 25D now and the main difference as far As I can tell is that the 23D does not have a vacuum advance but the 25D does. I used to have a 29D (special Aussie made version) ![]() |

The good Doctor could propably give you a full technical run down but as far as I know they are a "Made in Australian" version of the the 25D with the main difference being that the 25D has an external vacuum advance adjuster where the 29D does not. I have run both in my with my 1152 and they both preform about the same. |

29D (with vac) was used on Mini K and early Clubbie. Then they changed to using 45D. As far as S dizzys go, IMO they are overrated, and most now are probably worn out. These days points are passe. I bet a stock Pulsar electronic dizzy with it's std advance curve would make an S perform better than its original. OK.. so it's not an item for concours cars.. ![]() |
