Silly question.. but I still am after the answer. What were the clamp types used on Minis in 68? I have noticed that there are about 4 different types of clamps floating around. Photos or a URL would be useful. |

Its hard to fully describe, but I believe they were solid bands stamped 'Utilux' and they used a cheese-head screw and square nut. Edit: Here's an image I have found. The first I found at a flea market. Its the type in the lower half of the photo. These were unfortunately all the wrong size for us however, being one size up from heater hoses, and too small for radiator hoses...screws should be blade type and not Phillips however. ![]() |

I ma 90 percent sure for 68 it was those, and 100% it was correct for 69. I have only seen the wire clamps on really early cars such as pre 64 in photos, but I am willing to be corrected if necessary. |

Yeah, I have seen those top wire type on early Morris's and most people nowadays chuck those new style clamps on their cars. There is a swap meet coming up, I might see if I can find some of the bottom style clamps. Here is the clamps most people use nowadays: ![]() Here are 2 others that I have seen: ![]() Another variation: ![]() Are these similar to what you think the 68 should have? ![]() |

The best place to score the heater clamps I have found is to go through a pile of clubman heaters. The heaters were inside the car, and the clamps are usually in very good to perfect condition because of this. You can usually salvage some nice ones this way. |

![]() Are these similar to what you think the 68 should have? ![]() The first are the usual Jubilee clips style, and of course are pretty much universal. The last are the ones to use if you are after the originals for your 68, the others you photographed (except for the wire wound ones in the second image) I don't believe were ever used on minis. |
