i was wondering if someone can tell me what tools i will need in order to rebuild a mini motor

i was going to get someone to reface the heads and refurbish the block and i was going to put it back together but i still need to pull it apart so i guess i have to fork out for whatever tools you need

As well as you’re normal tools (screw drivers, files, taps, pliers etc.) there are a few special tools and pieces of measuring equipment you will need. These include:

Micrometers: ( 0 -1” .... 1-2”....2-3” but at the very least a set of 1-2” micrometers. This is an imperial motor, so buy imperial Micrometers).

Feeler Gauges

Dial Gauge (and stand)

Plastigauge (strongly recomended)

A ground straight edge (decent steel rule might get you by)

Torque Wrench (1/2 drive that will cover a range from 25ft/Ibs to 150ft/Ibs)

Imperial Socket set

Piston Ring Compressor

Valve Spring compressor (or a work shop press)

And if you can afford it, get an engine stand... they make life so much easier

OH and don’t forget the most useful tool of all... a workshop manual appropriate for your motor.

A flywheel puller.

An engine crane.

ive rebuilt motors with nothing more than a torque wrench, a socket set and a good set of feeler guages

the big thing to remember is you can never be too clean, your workshop should resemble a doctors surgery

but with less sick people.

I find a good workbench is essential. Plus an engine stand can come in handy if you want to go that way - bearing in mind that most have to be modified to mount an A-series block on them.

While we're at it, Adamstuart didn't reply to a text message I sent in April so now I'm going to name and shame him.
