Haven't looked for a few years -but don't believe there's been any rule changes.

Pre 89 should be automatically eligible.... just meet appropriate ADRs (Australian Design Rules ) for the year it was built to be registered.

Freight charges are highly variable - and from memory were cheaper from UK than from NZ due to higher volume of shipping.

Anyway - this following topic lists all I went throujgh (and some useful links) when I imported from NZ. (principal the same)

I have an ex-UK 87 Mini that looks great. It's also rusty everywhere under that shiny paint. It was "restored" in the UK with a set of new sills, guards and patches welded over rusty metal. The rear subframe is held in by hope and fresh air. Despite this, the car still had an MOT when I bought it in Melbourne. The previous owner imported it sight unseen based on the seller's description.

If you do import from the UK, tread very carefully. Better to buy a car already here if possible. There are plenty of 80's Minis in Aus already.[/b]
