Post subject:  converting battery box to weber box

Hey all,

Im in the process of doing exactly this and was wondering if anyone on here had done this? I've read a few things on UK sites but not really 100% the info i want. Ill figure it out eventually with a bit of a play but if anyone has done it i would love to hear how.

Thanks,

Bill

Had I thought of that, I would have done it!

Atleast then, I would not have had to cut up my Stanley tool box!

I think it's just a matter of cutting out the firewall width (down to the crossmember) to suit the length of the box, sit box in there and scribe the firewall alignment to it, then cut it to suit.
You can just weld it in, but I've seen some flanged out and pop rivetted (not sure if this is legal or not).

Chong (lillee) did it on his car and I thought there were pics of it up on here if you'd like to search for posts by Lillee.

From memory Greig Malure actually did the welding and fitting if I'm not mistaken.

If you like the sound of the weber, don't block the drain holes! :D
