Post subject:  Smiths 8000 rpm counter fault

Hi guys,
Just thought I would pass this on. On and off over the last few months, my older model Smiths revcounter has developed a fault of not operating over about 4000 rpm, the needle flickers and it drops to zero, coming back into operation when the revs drop. I've checked the wiring and connections many times and decided it must be the head (instrument). I talked with our local instrument repair outfit and they suggested I try one more loop of the wire around the nylon block. Hey, presto, it worked. The rev counter works faultlessly now and a couple of test spurts of 7000 rpm showed it to be as steady as a rock. Hoping this helps somebody !!
