Hey all,
The seams on my 61 morris are pretty shagged.
Think I might just deseam it......

What is the go in SA with this. Do you have to get it engineered?????
Hopefully not cause the cars definantly going over regency when I go
to register it....

Cheers Hoba

Seriously thing about not doing it, not to a 61 850, bloody rare car!!! Once its done it can't be reversed, plus you will have body movement issues in the future, most deseemed cars i have seen crack the bog over where the seems once were.

engineering in SA? we live in the dunger state!

i'm assuming it's only going to regency for an identity check?

mine went through absolutely no stress, hardest thing was chipping away the stonestyle/hammertone paint on the radiator shroud.

i went through the sturt station but regardless, if it's just an id check all they're looking for is identity and general tidyness.

i'm reliably informed there's an inspector at Regency who's a mini nut like us :)

De-seaming is a major structual modification = engineering certification.

SA - The backwater state

Having said that, YES it will need engineering. It's a structural body modification.
No matter where in Australia you go.

Thanks for the advice guys.
Ripped off the seam covers this morning....
with alot of brute force and ignorance :)
Turns out they aren't all bad.
Only one needs a little bit of the seam rewelded.

NOW I GOTTA DO THE ROOF

does that mean my car is defectable? how many cops would know about seams...

i'd be interested to hear from other south ozzie residents with their de-seamed experiences..

yes i appreciate it's a structural thing, yes i appreciate it's potentially an engineering issue, i'm just not sure other states appreciate just HOW slack our rego laws are ... :D

The same amount of cops that know what airbag suspension is.

all the years i've owned and driven combinations of hot/modified/dunger cars, my internal police/impending defect beacon has never gone off saying...

"bing, bing, bing - i hope that cop doesn't pull me over and defect me for all of the welding that's been done here, then smoothed, filed, filled and covered in a really nice paint job"!

i'll take my chances with plod on my lack of seams

:D
