Hey guys,

Just tidying up an errant rattle in the gearstick mechanism this afternoon. Went to replace the bush at the bottom of the gearstick, but found our replacement was slightly different to the one already in the car.

This is one like the one out of the car:

The one we have here spare are shorter and with a rounded edge.

Can anyone tell me if there's an Aussie/GT specific gearstick bush, and whether I risk setting fire to my car running this mysterious shorter bush with the rounded end?

does the new one even fit on the stick?

you might get away without setting fire to the car, but the earth might start to rotate in the opposite direction...

It seems to, so we'll see how it goes. As long as there's no rattle and 50%of the gears still make the car go forward, then I'll count myself as having gotten away with it.

i think you`ll find that the one you show in the pic is the original 22g389 & can be used with a spring underneath it,,, but the newer one (became avaliable quite early in the piece i might add) isn`t meant to have the spring

i`ll go check my books tho
