I have a single wire splinter in my LH handbrake cable - does this need replacing? I know that I wouldn't trust this sort of defect on a winch rope, but what about my handbrake? Any thoughts?

Roadworthy guy prolly won't have any sympathy for it either. What are they worth? They're pretty cheap aren't they?

question is Brom, why did it break? Has it been kinked at some time or is it near one of the sectors where it could have been work hardened...then sproing!

Hand brakes are a safety feature......Minis have been known to lose there brakes from time to time  ....whack another in...even a second hand one that looks OK.

Probably stretched too, if it's old enough to start fraying.

It is fraying near the curve thingy, I also dropped the rear sub onto on and kinked it - time for two newbies. Any idea on price for these?

Brom, common ADF speak for your wife or a lady is on the phone is "curvy voice" ....always loved that one....

curve thingy is what I called the sector, which is a guide for the brake cable to prevent it from chaffing and to make it operate smoothly....yeah....get a new one if you have damaged the old.
