Front valance is different, to accomodate the oil cooler, other than that it has Cooper 'S' tabs etc in boot, different tacho, early cars have unique trim...then there are the numbers etc....

Perhaps give some consideration to getting someone knowledgeable in your club to have a look at perspective purchases as there are a lot of things to check and even more fakes and bitsas.

It might also pay to have a look at Watto's mag's covering Anton's GT rebuild.

The only difference in the front valance is that it has two tabs welded to it to accomodae the oil cooler. there was talk going round a while back about it actualy being further forward, but it isnt.

The r/h petrol tank bracket is welded to the seat, NOT bolted like cooper s's. You can check this by removing the seat and you should see some weld dimples.

Hole under the passenger side back seat for a fuel pump breather

Radiator shround number YG2S8 XXXX

Compliance plate driver side guard YG2S8 XXXX (same as radiator shround)

Firewall behind the master cylinders should look like
M2
23
XXXX (this number is 500 or so less than the compliance plate number)

120mph/200km/h speedo, tacho that redlines at 6500

Engine number can be a (9F.... if it is an early GT, 1200/xxxx if it is a late 71, early 72 GT, 1206 If it is a 11/12 71 or 1/73 GT

Or 1205 (i think from memory if it was a police GT)

Or 1203 (i think form memory if it was a replacement GT block)

71 to about april - mid 72 basketweave interior, after than standard style interior (just sewed up a little differently)

Wheels- similar to mini s rims but they have 2 holes per corner instead of 1.

7 1/2 discs, twin 1 1/4 su's (unless police GT had 1 1/2's), twin fuel tanks

Thats about all i can think of at the moment

Brenton
