Post subject: | Roof mounted aerial/antenna |
Hi all, Thinking about installing a roof mount antenna but where do I run the cable to the head unit to conceal it? There's nowhere to hide it on the A pillar so how do you do it? How has everyone else done it? Alternatively who's installed a discrete antenna that actually works! no crackle and pop required. |

I'd look into other alternatives to sticking holes in your roof, like window mounted antennas and stuff first.....but thats just me who couldn't bare to put a hole in the body for an aerial so I just run CDs. ![]() |

If you are going to knock a hole in the car to let water in you might as well do it up high for maximum damage. |

I'm with morris If you have to put an aerial in, put it somewhere it won't let water into every known water trap. If it were me, i'd put it on the guard, and then run the wire through the firewall |

Roof aerials have killed many a 1275LS, they leak and the water kills the roof from then inside out and sends rust down the 'A' pillars to kill the 'A' panels and sill's. ![]() |

Get a gutter mounted one, same look as a roof mounted one but without cutting a hole into the cabin or guard or anywhere if you get the clamping type. |

I have a roof mounted ariel. Yeah it might look good but its a pain in the arse. First one broke. Bought a replacement which started to rust within 6 months. Wish I had of pulled it out and got the hole welded up last time the windscreen was out. A mate has a mobile Ph type ariel on the back window which works well |
