Post subject:  Top engine steady

Hi People

Got a bit of problem with the top engine steady on a MK2 S. One of the bolts has sheared on the block. I know it is a common problem but was wondering if that steady could be bolted else where. I have read somewhere that kits are available to bolt them to the clutch housing bolts. Are these kits available in Australia? If they are where from? I have looked at drilling the broken bolt out but I would have to disconnect the brake servo + other things to get to it and there is no guarantee that I can it out anyway. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

I've broken one of them. PITA I know, but best to get the screw out and replace it.
The stabiliser you're talking about gies under the housing, you need at least one up high.

As Harley has said^, Best if you can get the broken screw out, but it can be difficult to do with the engine in the car.

Mini Spares in the UK have the kits you are after, maybe Mini Sport SA have them too.
