a BIGGG not happy JANNN.. why is that????????????????????????????????????????/ Because of this..... yea,,, not particularly happy.. have just come up from the shed in the freezing cold and decided to call it a day... Was too busy singing gargling away to the music, and matching the coloured wires like a kid, doing one wire at a time, so I don't f up,, and only when I get down to the last wire do i realise what I've done as something didn't look right ........ Yes I wired the 2 plugs together...... Electrical wiring has never been my forte.. damn thing annoys me because the car has been off the road for about a fortnight to do some repairs and upgrades that I've been meaning to do for ages, and I've needed the car a bit lately, but tomorrow was and is the crunch.... grrr Me have no more connections left to correct it tonight, so it'll be an early start tomorrow to get to supercrap to get it sorted and finished in time for uni... And yet I still have to hack into the wiring loom in the bay and fit the hi and low beam relays... oh god I dread it... I always will and always have hated electrical poo poo, although I can always figure things out (generally the hard way), I just have crap luck with it... I've had a bad day today, im tired,cranky and venting on here .. but I blame you Dave!! thanks for waking me up at the crack of dorn for my for sales thread i told you I need my sleep garhhhh crys in corner end of rant...

Years ago at my work at the time, a qualified electrician had to cut the plug off an electronic set of scales and put a standard 10A plug on the powerpoint end. The scale end had a moulded three pin plug a bit like a kettle lead. Guess which plug he cut off? They had to order a new one in instead

Thats pretty good... But I just did a good one too.. My subframe is now back in i have the top arms in and managed to get the new rubber cones and hi-los in without a spring compressor so was feelin good then i looked thru my parts to start putting in the bottom arms and found some bump stops... woopsy forgot to bolt them in before i put in the springs there will need to be some inventiveness to fix them in now.

That is a classic "Oops!" Yes I am sure "we" have all done something stupid and usually hide it. I applaud you for being so brave to share your Oops with us all. Good luck in sorting it out.

Once during my exam study, we had a wiring problem with our hilux. I was studying, so my brother and father were trying to figure out why our tail lights weren't working. They had checked the fuse box and all the plugs, but it still wouldn't work. So they asked me to go over it with the multimeter. I started at the lights and traced all the way back to the fuse box - no problems there. Since the wiring ran under the fuse box, I removed it from the bulkhead to see where the wiring ran underneith. It was then I noticed that all the fuses were in the wrong place - their amperage rating didn't match with the cover. It was then I noticed that the cover was on upside down, and what were thought was a used spare fuse was the tail light fuse. So in all, it took about three hours for a science teacher, a tradie and a 3rd year engineer to swap a fuse.

Far out mate, that is bloody hilarious. I bloody hate quick crimps as well. use pliers to take the plastic off them, crimp the wire, touch of solder to make sure they dont come out on a rainy night and heat shrink over the top. It will be reliable and look much neater. Why do u even need additional connectors there? I dont understand.

Went and got some more connections...fixed the stalk.,,,, and installed the 2 relays.. finished putting the new race seats in the car, attached the boot with the new chrome hinges, put the door cards back on... and took it for a spin finally ... Man did that feel good again.... love the seats, and love the new Crystal angle eye headlights and new switch which even has dipper now and also turns off as you go off the roundabouts OMG,, yay love again ... not like the old sucker all burnt out and buggered... Had a joy of a time with the electrical plastic conduct as suspected.. gosh that crap cuts your hands trying to shove wiring into it,, specially when your bending over.... yah back's killing you,,,, your in the hot shed.... and theres 4 extra wires from the relays to get into it than there was to begin with,,, garhhh... Do i want to do it again???? ehhh NO..... Was it worth the effort?? YESSSSS... Won't have to go there again for a while, no more burning out switches or wires etc Relays are nicely installed out of main view and don't detract from the overall look of the bay Sure the engine bay ain't looking good atm, but that's only because I have the spare engine and subframe in the car while the new motor is getting built,, but come the muster time, she'll be ready to show and shine... Whata rekon? Can hardly see the relays,, aye???? Lockie now happy again and can head to Brisbane again without walking this time

Altho people swear by soldering, I don't like doing it if I don't have to... I've had success with the connections, just gotta crimp em right,,, I like to be able unplug the wires with ease if I need to get to things etc... with these connections its a piece of cake Altho I won't say its any better or worse,,, just for what I want it does me great only on big things that I won't be removing or unplugging will I solder and heat shrink.... The new switch is different to the old switch and plug. I wanted the dipper in the switch and the turning off signal, so in order to do so, had to swap the plugs over.. no biggy really, well until lockie f's the wires up that is Thought you'd all enjoy reading lockie's misfortune But all Happy days now
