Hi all, Rebuilt carbies on my stocko S and had the car running like a champ and tuned the carbs reasonably well. Wasn't able to touch the car for a couple of weeks, then tried to start it and not even a hint of wanting to fire up. Getting good spark at every plug, and getting fuel through as far as inside the carbies (took the pistons out to check for crap inside) Not really much fuel on the plugs, and tried re-tuning the carbs from scratch. Still no joy.... Any suggestions gratefully welcomed... Thanks in advance! |

Just a wild guess. Maybe its the fuel. Get some new fuel and try filling the bowls with it and see how it goes. |

Ryan, You win! Actually dried out the fuel bowls completely and ran some fresh fuel through. (Choke had been adjusted as per manual and was working sweet.) Got the car started with fresh fuel and the old plugs (to eliminate any possibility of the new unknown plugs causing problems) and then wacked a new set in - now runs even better and low rev running is much better - not perfectly smooth but sportily smooth ![]() Thanks guys, ausmini rocks again! ![]() |

After suffering a similar issue this week I was told that premium unleaded can go off in as little as a month. My fuel was probably four months old so it was unsurprising that I had problems (in fact the surprise was that I got is started a few day earlier). There is an additive you can buy to help prevent it, or I guess we can always try driving our Minis more often. |

Thanks, I think I will try both! As long as the rain that we had in Sydney a little while ago doesn't become common! |
