after getting a quote to soda blast a set of 12 inch rims back at 40-50 per rim..

i'm thinking i'd like to give it a go myself...

does anyone know where to buy bulk soda? for blasting as well as cleaning? SWMBO is the queen of soda and vinegar...

or would this be suitable for a set of alloy rims?

http://www.paramountbrowns.com.au/garnet-grit/

oh yeah interested in sacks of soda in adelaide...

I've done up a few sets of Contessa wheels, I just paint stripped them to get all the paint off.. easy peasy.
If you use garnet, any shiny bits will be frazzled to flat. And I reckon sand will just destroy them.

aaah paint stripper, you think i would've thought of that!

when i was 15 i paint stripped all the removable panels on my morris minor.. had an old bathtub in the backyard and by the end of it i think dad had bought enough tins of stripper that it was almost a dipping bath for car panels!

i remember the stuff stinking and stinging seriously. gotta love the oh&s of my folks letting a 15 y.o playing in the backyard practically in a bathtub full of paint stripper!

any recommendations on brands, places to buy of stripper?

I used Selleys on my wheels last time, but the stuff Bunnings sells in the yellow can (digger?) seems to rip paint off pretty well too.

Thumbs up for diggers from bunnings. Just did my whole shell in it. Heaps better than the polyfilla brand.
