Is any of it sticking out, or did it break flush or below the surface?

How much stud is left coming out of the head ?

You can get a tool for removing studs , and the Snap - On brand one that i have seen ,
worked really well . Someone on here may have a picture of one so you can see what they look like .Check out some reputable tool sellers to see what they have .

If there is any stud left, put two nuts on the stud, lock the nuts together and then try undo the stud.

whatever you do...

DON'T TRY TO USE AN "EASY-OUT" !!!

if there isn't any stud poking out, remove the head before you try anything, its just too awkward otherwise - always ends in pain

If its busted off flush, drill a hole in it, belt in a suitable allen key and twist it out. Worked everytime for me

I've found torx bits work very well as "easy outs" :D

The only times i've seen people using easy outs they have broken, making it even worse

Im yet to find an easy out that works, If that doesnt work then drill through and helicoil. If you dont have a pedestal drill then find someone who does and make sure its square.

In my trade I was taught to do this properly....
Drill it on centre (and square) to the tapping size for that thread, then screw a tap in. Bingo the stud's remains come out easy.

If the stud is broken off crooked I drill it out in the mill, using a slot drill not a twist drill.
