Hi to all. I'm Lyall52 and I'm currently rebuilding a Classic Mini. The engine has been machined, the head has been changed to run unleaded fuel. The engine just needs to be built now. But at the moment, after having the shell sand blasted, I need to replace a couple of panels. I also have a clubman which I'd like to do an engine conversion, but I'm having trouble in finding out which engine is the most suitable. The engine I'm looking at are: Suzuki Swift GTVI, Toyota Starlet non Turbo, Honda (but I dont know which one). Can anyone advise me on the Honda Motors, which one will fit into a clubman? Will a Honda B20 VTEC motor fit? Thanks |

Welcome aboard! I can't answer your question about which VTEC engine (I suspect it is the smaller engines not the 2L) but check out the engine conversions section to see what other people have done or are currently doing. Plenty of the conversions that you mentioned! |

correct me if im wrong... but i think legally the biggest that can go in is the BA16... which is still more than enough! and in a clubby turns into the ultimate sleeper look (thinks back to the white one at Zetland...) looks like it is meant to be in there... |

There is also an engine conversion using the 2.0 16v Holden engine. You get them in Vectra's and Calibra's. Not sure if anyone has done one of these in Aus but there are a few over in the United Kingdom of Englandshire. |

id assume vtec would go harder but 1.3 l starlet engine will defiantely suit me. starlets were mostly N/A, only the GT's were turbo'd and i'm not sure but i think most of them are imports.. ![]() ![]() also could be wrong here, i was reading up on doing a vtec a while ago and was checking out things with gov sites.. don't ask me where cause it took me forever to find and i didn't book mark it... i'm fairly sure i worked out that it was possible to get the B18 engines in legally, (1.8L mostly out of integra's and preludes i think) most of the vtec guys will generally go with the civic engines (B16, 1.6L, they're 1.6 and if you get the type R you're in for some real fun.. good luck with the one of your choice and welcome aboard. |
